User-Installable Program Updates

In the usual case, the GEOSYSTEM Data Manager program is capable of updating itself and the laboratory test and boring log programs that it manages; however, if it is blocked from accessing the GEOSYSTEM Software website by a firewall or corporate proxy server, you can manually install updates for your software by following the directions given below.

  1. Before you install any updates, you need to know the software versions you have installed. To get that information, start your Geosystem software package, then select "Help" > "About This Program...". You can compare the versions in listed in the dialog with the ones that are listed below: If a program lists the same version in the dialog as is listed below, you don't need to install anything for that program. If the first digit of your installed version number does not match the first digit of the update you're going to install, STOP. Do not install that update, as it's for a program version you're not licensed for.
  2. You'll also need to know where your user-configurable data files are stored. To do this: Start your GEOSYSTEM application, then select "Options" > "Setup General" options, click on "Files" in the left-hand navigation panel, then make a note of what's listed in the top-right "Report, entry and shareable config files path box". This path will be where you need to save the update files.
  3. If you have licensed LOGDRAFT, click on the link below and choose to save the file to the path you noted in Step 1:
Combined LOGDRAFT Version 5 + Data Manager Update
If you have not licensed LOGDRAFT, click on the link below and choose to save the file to the path you noted in Step 1:
    Data Manager Update
  4. Next, locate the updates for your licensed laboratory test programs from the list below. For each program that you have licensed, click on the appropriate update and choose to save it to the path you noted in step 2:

The following download is for version 5 of the named programs. If you have version 4.x, see the "Older Versions" section below.

Installing this download into a version 4 system will break your installation.

IF IN DOUBT, CHECK YOUR PROGRAM VERSION USING THE INSTRUCTIONS IN STEP 1 BEFORE PROCEEDING.

  5. Finally, restart your GEOSYSTEM program. You should see a note indicating that a number of files are being extracted: if you see this, your update(s) are being installed.
