Project Files on the Disk

Project files are stored as standard Windows folders on your hard disk or file server. When you create a new project, LOGDRAFT automatically creates a folder to hold the project's data files. This folder will have the name you gave to your project with ".GEO" added to the end. (For example, LOGDRAFT stores the file for a project named P290315 into a folder named P290315.geo.) Because they're regular Windows folders, you can use Windows Explorer to move, copy, rename and delete them; however, there are a couple of cautionary notes to be aware of:

A .GEO folder incorporates all of its project's information, so you can archive your project by creating a copy of the project's folder onto an archival medium such as a backup drive or USB stick by following the instructions given below.

To archive a project:

  1. Start Windows Explorer and navigate to the directory that you're using to store your project folders.
  2. Locate your project's folder (remember, it will have the name that you gave to your project, and end in ".GEO"), right-click on the folder, then from the menu that pops up, select Copy.
  3. Navigate to your archive folder, right-click anywhere inside the folder, then select Paste from the pop-up menu.

To delete a project:

  1. Start Windows Explorer and navigate to the directory that you're using to store your project folders.
  2. Locate your project's folder, right-click on the folder, then select Delete from the pop-up menu.
