Typical boring logs use symbology to represent soil types, monitoring well sections and sampler types -- to make sense of these symbols LOGDRAFT prints legends similar to the one shown in this figure.
LOGDRAFT creates legends by taking the symbols used on your reports, looking up descriptions for those symbols then printing the symbols and their descriptions on a predefined report form. The Legend form tab of the Report Settings dialog lists the different legend forms currently installed on your computer and allows you to choose the one that will be used to print your legends.
- LOGDRAFT generates legends based upon the report forms that have just been printed -- if you print boring logs for three borings, the following legend will list only those symbols that were used on those three boring logs.
- If you'd like to change the descriptions for the symbols printed on your legend, see this section.
To include a legend for the symbols used on a report or reports:
- Choose Print then either Reports, Subsurface Profiles or Subsurface Graphs.
- Click on the Legend form tab.
- If the Do not generate a legend box is checked, uncheck it.
- Make your form selection by clicking on one of the forms in the list.
- You can also view the general layout of any of the forms by clicking on the form then on the View it! button.
- Some legend reports include figure or page numbers (every page of the legend has the same figure number, while page numbers increment page by page): if the legend you've selected has room for a figure or page number, enter them into the Figure number and Starting page number prompts.
To omit the legend page from your printed reports:
- Choose Print then either Reports, Subsurface Profiles or Subsurface Graphs.
- Click on the Legend form tab.
- Make sure the Do not generate a legend box is checked.
