Data entry fields for the source heading -- information such as the boring number, groundwater elevation, etc. -- are shown on the top of the source folder data entry screen (see this figure). Begin the data entry process for a boring, test pit or monitoring well by creating or opening the source's folder, then fill in the source heading section of the data entry screen.
Following are some notes on a few data entry fields that you might encounter in the source heading:
- LOGDRAFT uses the elevation data you enter to plot data on subsurface profiles (discussed in this page). LOGDRAFT only understands elevations entered in a particular format, an example of which is shown below:
+134.5 MSL (estimated)
Note that the number comes first. The program would not understand:approx 134.5
This section gives some general guidelines on how to enter numbers such as elevations that LOGDRAFT can understand.) - Northing and easting profile coordinates are similar: enter the coordinate first, followed by any additional text necessary.
- The program requires a specific format for station numbers, which is covered in detain in this section.
- The data entry form associated with the source tells LOGDRAFT how to make the name that you see in the sources panel (on the left side of the screen) from data that you've entered into the source heading. You can find more information about how this is done in this section.
