Some data entry fields, such as "Boring Elevation, "Groundwater Depth", expect numerical values: In these fields, you must enter your data in a format that LOGDRAFT understands. Enter integers as whole numbers such as O
, 1
, 5
or -3
. Decimal numbers can be entered in either standard format (e.g. 3.1415
) or in engineering notation (e.g. 1.23E5
).
- LOGDRAFT can be set up to use the comma as the decimal symbol so that decimal numbers can be entered as
3,1415
or1,23E12
: this setting is controlled by Windows' Regional Settings. - If Windows is set up to use the period (".") as the decimal point, you can use the comma as a separator -- for example, instead of entering
110234.5
you can enter110,234.5
. - If you need to add some other text to a numeric data entry field, add the text at the end of the number, not before. (This is because if the program can't determine where the text ends and the number starts.) For example, enter
892.4 feet (approx.)
into a boring elevation field instead ofApprox. 892.4 feet
.
